I went to an elite boarding school in the Northeast and I now am a senior at an elite, fratty college in the South.

Given my extensive experience at the pinnacles of society in both the North and the South, I can tell you the difference between the two:

1. Northern old money kids never talked about their family money/prestige/connections all the fucking time like Southern fratstars, like most of you, do. Most of the Southerners I’ve met who are significantly old money but didn’t show it were from Woodberry Forest.

2. Northerners don’t try nearly as hard (i.e. making sure they’re NEVER seen without croakies/loafers/collared shirts) and thus don’t come off as tools. They’d rather just wear their dad’s old, rag-tag LL Bean wool sweater than put tons of effort into making sure they’ve always got a Brooks Brothers polo on. On the flipside, some Northerners do make occasional minor errors in judgment when it comes to style, even if they are otherwise fratty people.

3. Northerners value education more, and are snobbier. This is both a good and bad thing. If you go to the New York Yacht Club, it’s full of Ivy Leaguers and some NESCAC (Middleburry, Tufts, Amherst, etc). If people find out you’re from LSU or Alabama or whatever, no matter how fratty you may be, they WILL NOT take you seriously. If your family is so prestigious/connected, you’re supposed to go to an Ivy League or somewhere with decent name recognition like UVA, Georgetown, Duke, etc, even if they’re not as fratty as SEC schools. You would NEVER go somewhere like LSU because it carries no prestige at all and any peasant with a pulse can get in there as long as they’re from the state of Louisiana.

I’ll admit the North has its fair share of douchebags, but you cannot scoff at the Northern elite because they happen to live in the same geographical region as guidos. If you do that, you are beyond stupid.

Just something I’ve been meaning to get off my chest, because a lot of you are really ignorant when it comes to the North.

Also, to the fratmonster who is going to Holland for a semester, if you want something like a tennis shoe but does well in wet conditions (i.e. waterproofing/gor-tex), go with the North Face Hedgehog.

Great shoe, and it makes you look like a total top tier broseph to your third tier friends.

as far as jeans go it’s hard to beat levi’s as far as im concerned. Carharts are another choice for you though. Just rock the clarks if it’s cold but if you want a boot get a 11 rocky wellington there about $159 and they look good and hold up great. Plus they are insulated so you will stay warm if it’s cold.

Are you fucking kidding me? Buy some God damned Levis or Wranglers that are a color you would see a normal human being wearing. The go out and buy some New Balance 992s if your want to be ToTaLlY FrAt in Europe, or take your goofy ass down to the store and try on a couple pairs of Asics or New Balance and pick the pair that looks good and is comfortable.

I have been to holland its cold, but you don’t need boots. Those boots are real gay anyway, and the only time you need boots is when there is at least a foot of snow on the ground. But if you think its going to dump on you get some Sorels.
