Round 1 is over, and on to Round 2 we go. We’ll begin in the clothing region, where all-time undefeated Costas and Croakies takes on a tough competitor in Frat Tie. Meanwhile, the other match should be a close one, with Seersucker Suit and Polo Shirt going head to head.

We finally have some upsets. Two #3 seeds, Driving Mocs and Hunch Punch, are no more. At least the Driving Mocs put up a fight and topped 100 votes…Hunch Punch got humiliated like a pledge who is caught playing Gameboy Pokemon in the broom closet during kitchen cleanup.

4’s vs. 5’s now. These matchups are so close that they could go either way. I’m guessing that we have another mild upset or two:

It’s still chalk around these parts. Every #2 seed made it through round 1 victorious, although not all were unscatched. Open Bar defeated Theme Party by only 17 votes…and we were hestitant to let the poll expire with such a great match going on. But, every game must have a buzzer, and at the ending bell the #2 lives on for at least one more round.
As the tournament progresses, the games get tougher. Will a #3 be our first favorite to fall? We’ll see.

Fratbatical (Noun) – Occurs when a fratdaddy or sorostitute voluntarily neglects all responsibilities and disappears for an extended period of time to frat hard, regardless of the consequences.
ex. We had no clue where Doug was until Eric got a call from a Mexican prison in Guadalajara. Apparently the authorities there did not like his fratbatical activities.

There will be no midnight wallsit at the Prince Charming’s fraternity house for this year’s Cinderellas…all four #1 seeds have dispatched of their #8 seeded competitors. However, for the first time in three years, Costas and Croakies was not the strongest #1 seed. that honor went to Bourbon and Coke, which received over 80% of the vote. No #1 was ever in trouble, although Formal/Cocktail got the lowest percentage of any of the winners with 61%. We’re sure that has more to do with a strong #8 than with the weakness of the reigning party bracket champion.

The play in is over, and it’s time to get to the tournament proper. Dirty white college hat stepped up and earned the right to be the annual ritual sacrifice to Costas and Croakies, our two-time, defending, and undefeated FRAT MADNESS champion. In other news, the fratty world was shocked when Miller High Life defeated Natty Lite in the NCBA (National Cheap Beer Association) conference tournament. Can the Champagne of Beers pull another shocker? Formal/Cocktail returns as the top seed in the party region, and faces a surprisingly strong #8 seed in Alumni Golf Tournament. This #8 seed is an extremely fratty mixture of golf and big checks…can it challenge? Finally, Hazing, always a strong competitor, meets Frathoe, an institution in fratty transportation. We believe that this may be our most competitive round of 1’s vs. 8’s in the history of this tournament.

The layout: we’re having to make changes under the hood, but we don’t want it to mess up the tournament…so we’re going with this basic one for now until we can get everything fixed.
Now, on to the play-in game…

We are back. What have we been doing all this time? We are not entirely certain but we recall there was enough bourbon to make Jack Daniels cringe and more sororstitutes than Wilt Chamberlain could handle. Frattin’ ain’t easy and that is all we have been doing for the past several months . . . fratting. We were not even fratting hard. We were fratting to the extreme. During this long and perhaps irresponsible binder, we realized that an injustice was being exerted upon the frat world. We must continue to spread the word of Fratology to the masses that demand it. Through the pounding hangovers, ’80s music, and police sirens, we heard you and . . . we are back.
Our first order of new business is a new challenge. While we were off killing brain cells, numerous things were struggling to climb the rankings of the frat world. It is that time of year to give them a forum. Yes, the 2009 Frat Madness Tournament is ready to begin. They field has been set. Check back soon for the tip off of the first match up. For now, organize your pools, fill out your brackets, and vote for the next champion.
